On 7th May 2015 the people of Carlisle went to the polls and showed incredible support for the local Conservative Party.
John Stevenson held Carlisle with an increased majority of 2774 (up from 853 in 2010), winning 18,873 votes.
Locally, Nigel Christian gained Dalston from the Liberal Democrats with a majority of 737. He will be joined on the Council by returned Councillors Trish Vasey (Belah, maj. 618) and John Collier (Burgh, maj. 469), and new Councillor Fiona Robson (Stanwix Urban, maj. 656).
It was almost a far better night than originally anticipated, with Christine Finlayson cutting Labour's majority in Yewdale down to just 13, and Rob Currie losing out on Belle Vue by just 50 votes.
Elsewhere, the Conservative votes were up across the board, so big congratulations to our other candidates: Barbara Eden (Botcherby), Lawrence Fisher (Castle), Geoff Mitchell (Currock), Judy Prest (Denton Holme), Michael Randall (Harraby), Charlotte Fisher (Morton), Melissa Andrews (St. Aidan's), and Shaidat Danmole-Ellis (Upperby).
